I love the simplicity of tales like this. At the same time, I love the nuances of connection between characters who are, in most respects, polar opposites. Yet, there is such a realistic, beautiful, common ground, it's hard not to love. I can understand why people might not like it or hate it or think it's slow, but I think it touches a poignant, very real nerve, of which I am not in short supply. Lost In Translation is simply beautiful and Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson make it work to perfection.
