The funny thing about these blog posts is that I don't watch movies often. Except for lately, which seems all I want to do. It's a nice way to spend the evening, and it gets me away from the writing and books. I always think I'm running across some hidden gem no one's ever heard of before, only to find out I'm a few steps behind everybody else. I was talking about Garden State the other day with some friends at work, and every one of them chimed in with: "Oh my gosh, I love that movie!" "That movie helped me through some dark times. I've seen it at least 10 times!" "I'm in love with Zach Braff!" and on and on. So, as I sat there somewhat chagrined, I still couldn't help but smile. I'm late to the party, but that's okay. I still think Garden State is a gem of a film, quirky, comical, somewhat sad, while leaving room for plenty of heart. That's a good combination. It deserves a shout-out and might be another one to add to the collection. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. But you're probably more ahead of the game, and you've probably seen it already. Maybe even 10 times! But there's the chance you haven't, despite how slim that might be. Regardless, here it is . . .
